With the push of a button, vacuums make cleaning your home easy. The tricky part is getting rid of the dust and debris you’ve collected without creating a dust cloud – or worse accidently emptying it onto your freshly vacuumed floor.
We’ve put together a few handy tips on how to empty your vacuum to help you avoid a mess.
Tips on reducing dust and mess after vacuuming
Here are a few tips to help you quickly and easily dispose of all the muck you’ve trapped in your vacuum cleaner dust cup.
- Close any open doors and windows
- Empty the dust cup into a large plastic bag or bin with a secure liner
- Turn off fans, air conditioners, or other appliances which can cause draughts
- Empty the dust cup in your outside domestic waste bin rather than inside
- Regularly clean and fully dry your vacuum’s dust cup to avoid build-up
Emptying dust cups from other brand vacuums
Vacuums come in all manner of styles, such as upright, corded and cordless. For best results, refer to the instruction manual which came with your vacuum.
If you’ve lost the manual, check your vacuum manufacturer’s website for their recommendations. They may also offer product-specific tips on how to clean your dust cup and filter to help improve performance.
